IMO Maritime Safety Committee 2-6 December 2024 (in-person and virtual) – would you like to attend?
Maritime Safety Committee 109 will take place from 2 to 6 December. ICHCA members can attend as observers in person or virtually.
The agenda will address – amongst others:
Amendments to mandatory instruments
• International Code of the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk (IGC Code); and the International Code of Safety for Ships Using Gases or other Low-flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code)
Goal-based new ship construction standards
• Audits and potential working group
Safety regulatory framework to support the reduction of GHG emissions from ships using new technologies and alternative fuels
• Correspondence group interim report
Revision of the Guidelines on Maritime Cyber Risk Management (MSC-FAL.1/Circ.3/Rev.2)
Formal safety assessments
• Findings of the experts group
Ship systems and equipment
• Actions from SSE meeting 10
Carriage of cargoes and containers

There are many issues, addressed by almost 100 papers, intended to be locked down at the meeting that are relevant to the cargo industry. Thanks to ICHCA’s status as an approved non-governmental organisation, we have a voice in the IMO decision process. As members you have the opportunity to be part of that.
