Event: IMO Sub-Committee on Ship Design and Construction (SDC 11) – 13 – 17 January 2025
Start Date: 13/01/2025 End Date: 17/01/2025 Owner : IMO The Sub-Committee on Ship Design and Construction (SDC) considers a wide range of technical and operational matters related to ship design and construction, including subdivision and stability. The Sub-Committee also covers testing and approval of construction and materials, load lines, tonnage measurement, safety of fishing vessels and the carriage of industrial personnel. Event: IMO Sub-Committee on Pollution Prevention and Response (PPR 12) – 27 – 31 January 2025
Start Date: 27/01/2025 End Date: 31/01/2025 Owner : IMO The Sub-Committee on Pollution Prevention and Response (PPR) deals with all matters relating to pollution prevention and response which falls within IMO’s remit. This ranges from all annexes of the MARPOL Convention through to the control and management of harmful aquatic organisms in ships' ballast water and sediments; biofouling; anti-fouling system; pollution preparedness, response and cooperation for oil and hazardous and noxious substances; and the safe and environmentally sound recycling of ships. Event: IMO Facilitation Committee (FAL 49) – 10 – 14 March 2025
Start Date: 10/03/2025 End Date: 14/03/2025 Owner : IMO The Facilitation Committee (FAL) deals with matters related to the facilitation of international maritime traffic, including the arrival, stay and departure of ships, persons and cargo from ports. The Committee also addresses electronic business, including the single window concept, and aims to ensure that the right balance is struck between regulation and the facilitation of international maritime trade. Event: IMO Legal Committee (LEG 112) – 24 – 28 March 2025
Start Date: 24/03/2025 End Date: 28/03/2025 Owner : IMO The Legal Committee (LEG) deals with any legal matters within IMO’s scope. This includes liability and compensation issues related to the operation of ships, including damage, pollution, passenger claims, and wreck removal. The Committee also addresses seafarer matters, including the fair treatment of seafarers, and issues concerning unlawful activities at sea which affect the safety of navigation. Event: IMO Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 83) – 7 – 11 April 2025
Start Date: 07/04/2025 End Date: 11/04/2025 Owner : IMO The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) addresses environmental issues under IMO’s remit. This includes the control and prevention of ship-source pollution covered by the MARPOL treaty, including oil, chemicals carried in bulk, sewage, garbage and emissions from ships, including air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions. Other matters covered include ballast water management, anti-fouling systems, ship recycling, pollution preparedness and response, and identification of special areas and particularly sensitive sea areas. Start Date: 21/06/2025 End Date: 25/06/2025 Owner : IMO The Sub-Committee on Implementation of IMO Instruments (III) brings together flag, port and coastal States to consider implementation issues, including the analysis of consolidated audit summary reports from the mandatory IMO Member state Audit Scheme. The Sub-Committee has a key role in casualty analysis and issuing lessons learned from marine incidents. The Sub-Committee keeps updated the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes Code (IMSBC Code) and the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code.
